Chalk art… more than just Pub signs
Eating in a favoured cafe today, I was analysing how effective hand drawn chalk displays are, especially in building some brand values (food so fresh our signs can’t be printed etc). Then, in browsing the online world of design, looking for an interesting story I discovered the work of Dana Tanamachi, a Brooklyn-based graphic designer and “custom chalk letterer”.

Design Museum’s Design Awards
The Design Museum’s Awards, ‘Designs of the Year 2012’, showcase some of the most innovative and imaginative designs from around the world, covering seven categories: Architecture, Digital, Fashion, Furniture, Graphics, Product and Transport. The 100 shortlisted entries will be on exhibition from the 08 February until the 15th July and the winners will be announced at an Awards event on 24th April. Here are a couple of my favourites… but I am sure you will all have different views?

Royal Mail honours the life of Roald Dahl
Royal Mail has released a new set of stamps to celebrate and honour the work of classic children’s author, Roald Dahl. According to their website – “Royal Mail showcases – in tribute to one of the world’s greatest storytellers, this unique collection celebrates his most famous works, his best-loved characters and tales of his extraordinary life.”

Cathedral of Lights
The Light Festival Ghent is a event held in the town centre of Ghent Belguim. In the event the town is transformed into a magical display of lights performances and projection shows.
One of the highlights of this event was a creation by Luminarie Cagna, a Catherdral of light.
