The Underground Zoo

Posted By: Jayenne MontanaDecember 8th, 2011

This may be my shortest blog ever – There isn’t much I can say that you wouldn’t get just by looking at these…
except maybe – now go find your own Underground menagerie and post them back here soon.

…and that I didn’t do these, I have looked all over webland and still can’t find who did – but thanks for the idea and the hours of fun I’m gonna be having next time I’m stuck under the sweaty armpit of a total stranger, staring at one of these maps just to avoid direct eye contact with anyone who may see it a signal to strike up another benign conversation about the service/weather/blah-blah-blah with me. At least until the points get fixed, the signals work again and that train ahead finally leaves the upcoming station so we  be on our merry way to start another happy day at the office. Oh! you’ve really got me started now!

…and relax. I’m off to find what other beasties Harry Beck smuggled on to the Underground map he created way back in 1931.

I have found a bird in the tube map. That’s a good challenge!

Love this, although I could end up doodling for ever. With so many junctions and a bit of artistic license you can probably draw anything. My tube doodle is simply the first thing I see and these shapes really do spring out, not just the stations but the line pattern.

    P&O I think

What a fab idea. Here’s my angel fish. Which looks a bit miserable.
