Gift wrap good enough to eat

Posted By: Jo BritonDecember 13th, 2011

Looking for something visually appetising to wrap your presents in, then check out Gift Couture’s wrapping paper.

The design recreates each part of a cheeseburger, by stacking layers of sesame seed bun, beef patty, cheese, lettuce and tomato in a co-ordinated set. It contains original photography and is the first co-ordinated and themed set from their company.

The set was created by New York graphic designers Sarah Fay and Justin Cult (otherwise known as Gift Couture). It isn’t available for purchase yet, Gift Couture are relying on funds, which you can add to by donating pre-order funding to get the project off the ground. The company aim to produce unique gift wrap that “coordinate together into conceptualized themes and set”.

If they are successful in their launch they will release additional sets which can be purchased online and through their partners. See their website for more details.

After the Michael Douglas’ famous rant inside the burger bar where he points out what everyone else always thinks – why can my burger look like the one in the photograph? I’m guessing that they’ve finally given up on that and instead succeeding in making the burger look more like how it will taste.

I imagine wrapping up your presents in this paper but not wanting to spoil the arrangement.

I think this is one of those ‘great’ ideas that in reality is not that great. Not all presents are flat and conveniently this size for one? And as you said Nigel gift wrapping should look nice but is quickly ripped off – I just don’t get this one I am afraid!
