A picture is worth a thousand words….

Posted By: Sally HawkesJanuary 6th, 2012

This blog is a celebration of conceptual photography. In conceptual photography the photographer creates an image of a concept or idea rather than simple moments in time.

A normal photograph can be still and motionless with not much action but with clever camera work and abstract thinking, photographers can create a conceptual picture that can tell a story. Below are some examples that i liked. Do you have any favourite conceptual images?

I am going to show my age here but I used to really like the conceptual posters that launched the Athena chain (no longer around on the high street but survives as an e-commerce company under the brand name of Vivarti). One of most famous and sold 2 million copies is this very famous Raunchy Tennis poster which has since been referenced by many artists such as Alan Carr and Kylie Minogue.
