Espressionism – Latte Art

Posted By: Jayenne MontanaJanuary 10th, 2012

Coffee or Latte art is what seems to me to what happens when creative people become baristas – at least for whom must be the more patient customers, but who’d have thought that the pouring steamed milk into a shot of espresso could get the juices flowing with such creativity?
After stumbling upon a some great images online I thought I’d find out a little more and found that not only are there classifications for designs but competitions international too – I kid you not!

Right, that’s enough talking about it, I’m off to  create my first espressonist master piece and will comment below with my results shortly …this should give your a few days to create your own frothy-choccy-coffee works of art too, right!

I have noticed that Starbucks have, in the past, had photos up behind the counter of the same kind of thing. Whatever inspired someone to do that in the first place?

Here is my butterfly (and as you can tell it has not been photoshopped designer colleagues!), this is a lot harder than it looks, new respect to creative baristas.

A good genuine attempt Jo! (I sound like a teacher)
    Gold star for you! *

It too late for that, I think spoiling a perfectly good coffee with fluffy foam and chocolate sprinkles is pretty offensive.

This would be a great customer relationship opportunity for someone like Starbucks, enticing their customers to see what they can do, and if good enough get a picture on their shop wall. Taken with an instant camera. They could even publish a book with the best or a book with tips on how to do it?
