Only until Renault pointed it out…

Posted By: Nigel PetersJanuary 27th, 2012

Renault in advertising their new Z.E (Zero Emissions) range, they attempt to highlight how logical electric power is. The way this point is illustrated, you can’t help but feel, that does make sense. Effective?

You can learn more about the Z.E range here.

What made me chuckle was in the small print, if you buy one, the batteries aren’t included.lol!

I must be being a bit dim here, please advise. But I don’t really get this advert, or rather the message Renault are trying to give out. As soon as I saw the advert on TV I was puzzled.

I know an electric car gives of zero emissions, but don’t get how seeing a range of electric items giving off smoke builds the case. If they were clearly examples of every day things that had also converted to electric great, but as far as I know a credit card reader has always been an electrical device? I have even tried to think of a “imagine life without electric” route but that does not work either. Help???????

The message I got was if we converted our electrical devices to run on fuel it would seem like we’re receding technologically only a step away from everything being steam powered. Advancing motoring in Renault opinion is electric cars.

I know that they are glossing over the logistics but in a perfect world scenario that would be the way forward.

Interesting advertising, it actually shows how logical electric is! Showing all of the items we use everyday that really wouldn’t be right if they were powered by an engine and then they just turn the message around to say why not…

Great ad. Points up the complete absurdity of using petroleum based engines to power things. Loved the tiny can of fuel for the card reader device. Renault are trying to change the perception of what is sensible. The only flaw in the argument is that so much electricity is generated by burning fossil fuels – coal, gas, oil.

I often wonder just how much fuel could be saved (not to mention increase in productivity) if more companies could put their insistence on ALL staff needing to be in the office at ALL times – especially those that spend all day at the same desk / on the same phone or inputting in to the same computer.

cloud working is relatively new but still disappointingly absent from the eco debate.
