UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) was a UK Government department helping companies based in the UK grow their business on an international stage, and attract overseas investors by showcasing the amazing opportunities the UK offers. In July 2016 it was replaced by the Department for International Trade. With head offices in London and Glasgow its network included British Embassies, High Commissions, Consulates and trade offices worldwide.
Acumen Design was successful in two European-wide tender applications covering an 8-year period, and in that time completed over 4,500 projects with a budget of over £3 million. We worked with both the head offices in London and Glasgow, as well as many of the Embassies across Europe, the US, Hong Kong and Malaysia, delivering services remotely and by international visits to local offices.
There were two vital skills required. The first was strong branding expertise, and the second being adaptable to deliver marketing that represented a wide range of sectors including, technology, aerospace, education, energy, financial, healthcare, telecoms, manufacturing and food and drink.

Acumen Design created an inward investment campaign that won the first DBA Design Effectiveness Award for trade or investment marketing by the UK Government. With a deep understanding of the values, aims and objectives, we adapt to how our clients work, making their lives as easy as possible. For UKTI this enabled us to produce highly creative solutions quickly and cost effectively.
We were able to offer advice on different ways to answer a brief that had short term and long term benefits: that solved that marketing challenge, but also saw each project within the context of the overall marketing strategy.

Sales and exports campaigns, adapting to different UK business challenges;
Event marketing, from business awards in Milan to the International Business Expo attracting audiences from around the world;
Advertising, both in print and online;
Internal communications with values marketing to staff;
Bespoke marketing with folders, packs, leaflets and newsletters.
